Jimny / Research & fit

Right body style.
Honest dimensions.

These four alternatives were developed for an India five-door Jimny context. Year, trim, transmission, folded glasses and the actual glovebox remain unmeasured. This is a source-backed research set—not a complete cabin CAD database.

Start with the portable eyewear capsule or pull-out cassette. Cargo pods depend on a real restrained host bag. The swivel valet is the more exploratory alternative: remove it from the car before opening.

What the published numbers mean

Evidence typePublished dimensionsUse / boundary
India OEM brochure, p10 [1]3985 × 1645 × 1720 mm
Wheelbase 2590 mm
Exterior dimensions. Length includes spare wheel with cover. Not pocket geometry.
India OEM boot capacity [1]219 L / 211 L / 332 LRear-seatback first / second positions / rear seats folded. Volume does not define a printable envelope.
Overseas five-door cargo references [2, 3]590 mm floor depth, 1210 mm width to sides
1015–1030 × 850 mm aperture
Medium-confidence nominal dimensions, not an India measurement or clear rectangular space. Wheelarch width, taper, closed-tailgate and seatback clearance unresolved.
Commercial caddy envelope [4]230 × 150 × 150 mmSeller's accessory size; axes unspecified. Not a stock console cavity measurement.
Commercial tray interior [5]206 × 79 × 20 mmUsable tray interior—not external tray size or factory opening. Overseas compatibility is not India fit proof.
Stock glovebox / floor consoleNo reliable numerical mating geometry foundPhysical measurement required. MT and AT console room differs. No dimensional fit claim for any V2 model.

The two overseas cargo sources may share provenance; they are not necessarily independent measurements. V2 does not use their values to create a vehicle-fixed board. Read the complete dimension evidence and limitations.

Why these mechanisms—not four more bins

StudyUseful changeResearch and deliberate limits
Pull-out cassetteOpen skeletal cradle, captured runners, travel slot and bolt-retained stop key. One blue saddle lifts out.Sliding access and modular inserts are established maker mechanisms [8]. Rail fit remains printer-specific. No cradle-to-car retention is supplied.
Eyewear capsuleTapered lens shell, crowned lid and four captive tabs. Slide 30 mm to align real windows, then lift.Disciplined seams and shaped enclosure references [6, 7]. It still requires upward clearance after sliding. It does not guarantee glasses fit.
Twin rail podsTwo distinct shells on a common dovetail. Opposite-end access avoids moving one pod through the other.Detachable kit architecture [4]. Bag walls must allow end access. Plug lids are unlatched; separate suitable bands and closed containment are required.
Swivel valetKidney-shaped layers, real sleeved M3 pivot, floor stop arc and transport cover.Portable layered storage inspiration [7], not a copied mechanism. Larger open sweep; take it outside the car. Real tipping and retrieval tests could reject this option.

All four are independently drawn source CAD. No third-party model, logo or licensed accessory geometry is redistributed. CARMATE CX502K explicitly excludes Nomade five-door JC74W compatibility: it informs visual integration only, never the fit or mounting of these prototypes [6].

What the digital checks establish

Each printed part is exported separately at Z=0, no dimension over 230 mm; STL closure and STEP single-solid round trips are checked. The same mesh coordinates feed the viewer. Reimported STEP solids are transformed along the mechanism phases, with pairwise intersection volumes and minimum distances sampled at 21 states per assembly. Deliberate blocked motions test the physical rail capture, locked position and travel stops. These are finite digital checks, not physical friction, durability, restraint or continuous collision proofs.

Vehicle boundaries come first

The India OEM manual warns against objects between the passenger dashboard and ride-in assist grip, attachments around airbags, unsecured items in lidless storage and an unlatched glovebox [9]. The five-door handbook also says not to operate with storage lids open while driving [10]. V2 intentionally omits dashboard, grip, visor, seat-rail, belt and control mounts. An India road test reports no rear door pockets; V1's conditional rear-pocket idea is not repeated [11].
